There has been a melee of media hype surrounding the controversial subject of which way a baby should face when you are pushing he or she down the high street in prams
The Scientists claim that studies have conclusively shown a forward facing pushchair could harm your child emotionally and increase mental stress. They recommend that parents have the child facing them at all times.
So how are the children supposed to learn about the world and see what’s going on around them if they are constantly staring at you.
Don’t you also think that the urge to stare at your child constantly will decrease your spatial awareness, forcing you to make mistakes with the pushchair. At home we insist on positioning our kids so we can make sure they dont get into trouble, and in turn they are watching us so why do this outside as well.
why enage when we are outside, when at home we are their everything.
I tend to think that science stopped doing its curing disease work for a bit of fun study.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying ignore your child at all, I get that they will feel more secure looking at a friendly face, but boredem must set in fairly quickly for a child if they are looking at the same image constantly
A child’s first few years are its most productive in terms of learning ability so I want my child to see as much as possible, experience variety, the big wide open ever changing world. I have an interesting face, I think, but I can’t compete with the world.
The study also claims that a child has double the chance of drifting off to sleep if they are facing you, and a lower heart rate. I would say that the child was so disinterested and decided enough was enough and caught forty winks.
If you are aroused by what you see then your heart rate is going to become less measured.
I say that you should decide what best suits you but as far as I am concerned you should be facing your child toward excitement and adventure, not inward and upward to Mum and Dad
Should you not want to pick one favourite pushchair, you could opt for a forward and rear facing britax vigour 4 which allows forward and rear facing options.
Bottom line, choose a baby pushchair you are happy to push and your child is comfortable in.
