The Fire and Ice for a Newborn’s Little Room

Have everything ready before you bring the baby home from the hospital. To make life easier for moms, and for the safety of a baby, one should prepare the nursery well in advance. Some items are practically a requirement for the well furnished baby’s room include furniture and baby bedding.

One important consideration for the new parent is if the furniture in the nursery suits their needs. Purchasing a quality crib and mattress should be your first priority. Always buy a new mattress for a used crib, even if a mattress was included. Older cribs are less safe and require thorough safety check before buying.

You can get by without one, but most parents who are setting up a nursery do purchase a changing table. Changing tables are very convenient as they provide a place where you can not only change the baby but place changing supplies so that they’re be easily accessible. You need to have dressers large enough to accommodate the baby’s clothing and outfits. If there’s enough room, add a comfortable chair for the inevitable late-night feedings.

Don’t get the cheapest you can find; quality bedding – which can be found at most baby retailers – is well worth it. Crib bedding makes sense to buy over the Internet, because physical stores can only carry so many sets of bedding for customers to see. When buying baby bedding, keep the safety of your baby in mind, so make sure blankets and sheets are snug, and avoid heavy quilts and pillows. Most crib sheet sets come with a fitted sheet and a top sheet for covering the baby. Selecting  a natural fabric like cotton does not cause skin irritation and allows your baby’s skin to breathe.

The baby’s nursery will be complete with some accessories and other nursery decor. Unless you have decor in the nursery, it will look too bare;  get picture frames and window valances to make it look better. Baby monitors will let you know when your baby is awake or needs something, and are thus important to have available. A mobile would be entertaining for the baby and the soft music it plays is a great sleep aid, hence, making it an ideal purchase for the crib. Having extra blankets and sheets on hand is also a good idea, because they’ll get dirty quite frequently.
