What made me choose to reuse!!!

When I was pregnant I saw all these lovely nappies/diapers and was a amazed by them. I spoke to Keith my partner about them, he wasn’t up for it. I still went ahead and looked into it and worked out we could save money, would be better for the planet. Anyway I was told it would be far to much work and a waste of money. I could not help it but look up real nappies all the time. It was not until Emily my daughter was 5 months old when I went back into it. I went to mothercare looking for some advise and no one was there to help, so I came back out with a trail nappy. Was not the best nappy but it was a start. Then I remember my uncle use real nappies on there first son, so I asked if they still had them and if so could I try them. Again not that great of nappies had leaks and very slow drying. They were kushies nappies aio(all in one) which mean has a built in waterproof layer. I ended up talking to a few people that reused real nappies and was recommend to speak to a lollipop nappy adviser. With things I had a look on there website and sent in a request to have some help me chose the right nappy for me, my daughter and our lifestyle. A few days later I had a call from a lovely adviser and she was really helpfully. We ended up going for a 2 part system, a 2 part system is a nappy with no waterproof layer and commonly known as fitted or shaped nappies, these nappies require a outer cover also known as a wrap. So we went with 20 cream micro nappies and 6 wraps. The reason I wanted these nappies as they were quick drying and the wrap did not need change every time it could be reused several times and easily wiped clean. I also order 2 softee nappies which is really fluffy and super soft nappies and great for nights and heavy wetter and again quick to dry. I got a wetbag too so I could use my nappies while out and about. I believe with reusable nappies we have saved around £1250, I do believe we could have saved alot more if we started with real nappies.

And who ever said it was hard work was lying, it is not hard work I do 2 extra loads of washing a week. All you have to do is put a nappy on put the dirty on in the pale where you have mess bag and once it is full use the bag to put your nappies in the washing machine. Close the door put your powder in and nappy sansitser. Which on and wash at 40. Later take nappies out hang out to dry once dry put away.

I do not find it harder to change using real nappies infact I find it easier. And if you do want an easy and simply change go for a pocket nappy.

Reusing is easy, it is cheap, it is better for your baby’s bum and better for our planet.
