Pregnancy the First Three Months – Part 1

Hello everyone I am Hannah(Tiger) I have just had my first baby. Emily Ashley was born on the 16th of August 2008 by Emergency C-Section (EMCS). I am going to write about my pregnancy, Emily’s birth and parenthood.

After a few months with my periods being late, and I had taken several pregnancy tests. I bought several pregnancy test kits on Ebay, but the day after I took a test I got my period. December 2007 came and again I had a late period and again I took test. The following day I had my period started. I felt I was wasting my time with tests all the time, while I knew I could not be pregnant.

We were not trying for a baby and had been using protection. On the 24th of December 07 Emily was conceived as we did not think we would need any protection. As I was not due to ovulate, however I miss calculated my dates. I was 5 weeks pregnant before I did a test. I choose not to take a pregnancy test, as I thought if I did it would be negative, and a waste of money. It was good to buy several off Ebay for £0.99, cheaper than buying several test in shops that cost a lot of money as a lot of us know.

It had been about 3 weeks after Christmas when my breasts started to get bigger and heavier. My period was late but I decided not to do another test as there was no point. After several weeks with no sign of my period. I thought maybe I could be pregnant, with having sore breasts, and them getting bigger. On the 4th of January 08 I took a pregnancy test. I was in shock when the test came back positive. At first I was so scared and excited at the same time.

I didn’t know what to tell my partner. It took me three hours to tell my partner that I was pregnant. We talked for a while, we asked each other how we felt. I didn’t know what to say to him, as I did not know if my partner wanted a baby yet. So I asked him what he wanted to do and how he felt about it all. “we had planned to have a baby, after we got married.” He said “ It’s maybe a bit soon to have a baby. I am happy to have this baby” I was over the moon with him saying this. Then we both got very excited, and went through all the things we had from his daughter of 3 years.

At first I was not sure what I should do. So I called my doctors and they said I had to make an appointment to see a doctor. I got the appointment for the following week. I thought the appointment was a waste of time. I was asked when I had my last period. Had I done a home pregnancy test and did I want to keep our baby. I told the doctor my last period was 7th of December 07 and yes I done a test. Yes I wanted to keep our baby. I was told to make an appointment for the midwife. I made an appointment for when I was 10 weeks pregnant to see the midwife.

About 7 weeks pregnant I started to get morning sickness, and cravings for ice polls, chocolate covered raisins and crisps together. My morning sickness was bad and I could only keep ice polls down. I felt rather down and very tired most days. By the end of the week I was starting to get heartburn, but drinking milk helped with my heartburn.
